Go, Johnny, Go: Dallas' Premier Hair Stylist Shares His Secrets

by Ramona Flume

johnny rodriguez

Hair and beauty extraordinaire Johnny Rodriguez has it all— a thriving Dallas salon, natural talent and the upcoming launch of a new makeup line. He shared his Top 10 Beauty Tips with Popular Hispanics recently and sat down to answer some questions about his success as an expert stylist. Read the article to find out why Johnny is so good at what he does—and score some great beauty advice.

Tell us about your career and why you started the Johnny Rodriguez Salon.

I have uncles that are in the beauty industry, which played a large part in influencing my decision to do the same and eventually led to the creation of the Johnny Rodriguez salon.  I love being creative, and am passionate about making people look as good as they feel.

How does your Hispanic heritage influence your work and the salon's philosophy?

My heritage influences me to be a very dedicated, hard worker.  I learned those values at a young age from my family.  They all worked very hard for whatjr salon they had, and what they hoped to achieve.  I hope to create the same sort of environment around me.  I hope that our clients understand, through interacting with my staff and I that we strive to create a real relationship with each of them and understand their individual needs.

What do you like best about working in Highland Park in Dallas? What is the Hispanic community like there?

We love our location because it is still very much in the city, but is easily accessible from Dallas’s outlying suburbs.  The Hispanic community is affluent and down to earth, while still being excited and educated about fashion and style.
